ICT as co-constructive tool

Reflection on co-constructive tool

Technology is popularly used as a co-constructive tool in teaching and learning. In these sessions, we were introduced to the meaning of co-constructivism, example of co-constructive tools and the importance of co-constructive tools. We have also done an activity on google doc as part of learning through co-construction using technology. We have designed ICT integrated lesson plan in a group of three. Upcoming reflection will show detail about experiences on a google doc.

Co-constructive tool can be used to work collaboratively towards achieving a common goal. My take-away definition of Co-construction is an approach that supports the construction of knowledge through a shared understanding (collaborative). By the end of the session on co-construction, it was surprised to know that technology can be beneficial if it is used appropriately. For instance, we have successfully achieved the ICT integrated lesson plan collaboratively through google doc. Thus, there are many other similar platforms to co-construct on common goal among a group using such technology tools.
There are many example of co-construction application such as Google docs (docs.google.com), electronic whiteboard, blogs and wikis, discussion forum on portals (pce.edu.bt) and many others. Among many co-constructive tools, I like the google docs the most because of its user friendly and effectiveness in teaching and learning. This applications help learners to co-edit the same document from different places, communicate well on the issues with peers and tutor, identify and develop work and enhanced collaborative learning. As a result, we can co-construct knowledge through regular collaboration and communication. Thus, it is the best platform to work collaboratively to achieve a common goal.

We can integrate the co-constructive tool in our teaching and learning sessions in the future to work together among different people of the same interest living across different places. We can use co-constructive tools to work cooperatively and collaboratively to teach and learn one another by sharing the understanding of the concept. It has lots of benefits includes sharing knowledge and co-edit to improve the document. It is very convenient for all of us to co-edit the document from different places, not necessarily to sit together with the help of technology tools. Thus, technology tools help us in achieving co-construction more effective and easy.

Finally, the difference that co-constructive tool has from constructive tool is that in co-constructive, the users develop their understanding collaboratively unlike constructive tool where the users work independently to construct personal knowledge in constructive tool. I realized that technology in the co-constructivist approach of learning is another best methods to take place in teaching and learning collaboratively and effectively. I would encourage everyone to use the co-constructive approach with the help of technology to create our children, active learner, for all time to come.

Thank you.
